A group of Christians moved from the Saint Paul Community to the city of Shreveport, LA. and settled in the Hollywood area. Being led by the Spirit, the group organized the Calvary Baptist Church on February 22, 1948, at Coleman College. The very name of our congregation, Calvary, constantly reminds us of how great our Father’s love is for us and the great debt we owe him. The church relocated to 5821 Ledbetter Street on September 28, 1948, with thirty-five members. Renovations were made to the building in 1961 and 1973. Additional property was purchased in 1978 and 2000.

Our God continued to bless through increases in members and ministries which led to the building of a new place of worship at 5823 Ledbetter Street on May 15, 1983. On December 22, 2024, God blessed us to move to a new place of worship, 3939 Pines Road, where we can do greater work for our Lord. Over the years we have baptized hundreds of souls and performed multiple weddings and blessings of babies. From a congregation with no college graduates in 1973, God has blessed us to give birth to judges, lawyers, doctors, nurses, teachers, architects, multiple other professional careers.

Worship services are each Sunday morning at 8:00 A.M and evening service is each Sunday evening at 5:30 P.M. We observe Communion each 4th Sunday evening at 5:30 P.M. adorned in all white as the attire. Each Tuesday night at 6:00 P.M. is Pastor's Class/Bible Study. Please feel free to drop in and experience a Holy Ghost take-over worship service like never before.
